Some of you know me.... from way back when, some do not.

I have been with NAXJA for a while, and held an office or two.

I propose a "Get Together" / "meet and Greet" on Lopez Island, in the San Juan Islands.

Looks like Aug 2nd and 3rd would be good. We have plenty of room for camping, as well as a couple hotels here for those not wanting to "rough it".

Mostly a get together... not any real Jeep-Offroad stuff on the Island, but a chance to get together, discuss the NAXJA Northwest Chapter formation, etc....

Will plan on a BBQ (bring your own beef...etc.... or buy here on Island... if a few people commit, I will do some Salmon... if we share cost) Likewise... supply your own beverages... beer, soda etc....

In otherwords...come on out, I will supply the place to camp. I will supply the BBQ and accessories... you supply anything you choose to drink or eat. :) We all supply the discussion and fun.

Of course... Spouses, significant others, and Children are welcome. Mine will be here. :)

A great time of year to get together.... discuss the vision for the chapter.... and see one of the most beautiful places in Washington State, if not the NorthWest.

Respond here if you intend to come out, or not.

If I had a couple of vacation days burning holes in my pocket I'd consider heading out there and invading the island.

Are you going to Moab?

Well, now ya KNOW I will be there. :) Might have to soak some Johnsonville brats in some Henry's for that trip. :D

I've never been up there before so that'll be a treat. Of course it'll be great to meet up with everyone and discuss our future. I'll probably be SO and kidless for that weekend, so I'll have a tent to myself. :D

I'll be looking forward to it!

So are you having a big party at home or something? I didn't want my daughter to be bored...which is why she wouldn't be there. She'll be 2 in September so I'm sure they could keep each other occupied. :D

Who else has wee little ones?

I'd love to come, I even got the weekend off from work...but I'm running security and supplying power at Sultanpalooza, so I'm sorta commited to that.
If another meeting for the NAXJA NW comes up again though, I should be able to make it since I don't have anything else planned that far in adavance.

Keep us posted, my GF and daughter (23 months then) coming along is pending whom else shows. Don't want my kid and GF bored, lol. We'll have to see if more folks are even going to come...

My kids will be here too. Boys, ages 5 and 6. Swingsets, trampoline, etc are ready. ;)

Note: We can either reschedule, since it looks like only a few of us will make it... or we can still go ahead with it, BBQ etc.... and have fun. You ll are welcome here though. :)

This is also the same weekend as Seafair. I don't have plans to go, and would rather come to this meet & greet, but maybe the following weekend would be better???

I would sure like to, but for a drive like I think I would head the other direction. :)

Crap, I was just looking on the members Roster to see how many people were in Idaho and realized I let my membership lapse.

I doing really well this month.

Sounds like Summer was pretty much booked for everyone, lol.

So Glenn are we pretty much off then? Wanna just try for another time?

Glenn B

Yeah, busy time for everyone. Lets bag it for now, and see what we can come up with later when schedules are not so busy.

Sept may be a good time as things are quieting down and schools are back in...

On a seperate note what are the regs. with the ferrys - I think my bumper mounted gas can is a big no-no!? (yes, no???) I am there as long as there is some notice ;)

See ya

If it is at all helpful, I have access to a Community Center that will hold upwards of 50 people. It has a kitchen and a BBQ if we want to meet there we can do so. I was thinking maybe a Sat afternoon late in september. That should give us some time to assemble ourselves??

Maybe Sep 20 or 27th??

I am located about 30min north of Seattle in Marysville (maybe a mile or two off the freeway).

Let me know,
Michael

Because it looks goofy without it - plus the gauge works backwards F = fumes (not always correct though) and E = entirely full ;) So most of the time I just go until I run out - classy huh

I have a old ceramic coated water can I could put there...

We need to get another local run together...

Matt

(Reiter is really dry and you can climb some really gnarly stuff pretty easily!)

ECKSJAY
August 4th, 2003, 09:53
SO what's the deal with Reiter? Did Isabel close down at the water crossing or what??? I heard there was a locked gate...

Matt
August 4th, 2003, 20:44
The only closures at Reiter so far have been TA, UTA and Tighty - these were all in an area where Hogarty Creek (the one feeding the hatchery) started flowing down the trail bed after folks breached the bank by by passing around a large rock.... This is a voluntary closure but the signs do have some ticketable RWC's listed and several hydraulic violations were issued due to some irate motorcross guys who felt cheated after the single track opened up into a jeep trail (brought the sheriff up and took pics of rigs and licenses!)

Issy (above the cedar bridge) is on the chopping block if "Wild Sky" pass this term but so far it is open and as legal as it has ever been - just keep your antics in the creekbed contained to the high traffic area that has been "paved" with big cobbles; ie crossing is OK but playing is definitely uncool and risks a ticket (1000$ fine  ) - Get out there and run it while it is still legal!

Some fun stuff has developed under the power lines and the Index Wall trail is kinda fun for an easy trip...

I have Sundays and Thursdays free so anyone that wants to go for a little jaunt I am game if you give me a heads up a few days in advance (barring other commitments  )

What are you thinkin?

Matt

I was just curious as to what was going on there. I've found no place in State or Federal Law that says that those creek crossings are legal without a proper buildup and hydrology permit. I was just curious whether that water crossing (down below the cedar bridge) was still 'open'...not that it's 'legal'. I'm just wondering if they actually did put a gate up is all. I'm not planning on crossing it ever (only have once in my own rig), just curious.

From what I heard, Wild Skies did pass...and I was also under the impression that trails in existence would remain as roads, but I could be mistaken.

Last I heard it had not passed yet - last session it never made it to the table but was pretty much set as far as votes go - homeland security nudged it off the calender before time was up...

If Issabelle stays that would be great too - who know what will happen... Just be sure to keep an eye out for signage where ever you go!

I'll have to make some calls to see what I can find out. :)

Always looking for signs. :) Just be forewarned though that just because there's no sign doesn't mean it's legal. ;) It is illegal to cross a live stream bed, period. :D
