I've been running a DynoMax Super Turbo for about 7 months now (after I put a rock through my stocker). I personally love the sound over the others such as a glasspack or Flowmaster. It's deffinatly a deeper tone, but not so much louder than stock. It doesn't drone, sounds good when you step on it, and seems to hold up and perform very well.

On a side note, I'm pretty sure people will respond telling you to buy a Flowmaster, I wouldn't. A freind of mine with a '98 4.0L Auto has had both a 40 and 50 series and both times it sounded like a Honda Civic with a coffee can. He has since changed it to a glasspack, which sounds even more like a Civic with a fart-tube. Anyway, don't get me wrong, Flowmasters are great for the V8 guys, but not the I6. As for Magnaflow, I've personally never heard one, but they get good reviews.

Good Luck!

i have a series 50 flowmaster, its pretty quiet. sounds perfect to me. i cant hears it over the 33" swampers on the highway and it purrs at redlights.

I put the series 40 Flowmaster on mine. When I do it again, I will use a $19.00 unit from summit. This is a lot like shocks, putting 200.00 on the XJ when after 2 runs it will be bent. Took me a while to learn this, but I got it now.

The Dynomax has a noticeable drone at 1500RPM (~40MPH). But at highway speeds I can barely tell a difference from the stock sound level. I can definitely feel a power difference and acceleration is much smoother. Of course, my stock system had 140K+ on it with a rattling cat... :-))

I've been running the dynomax for about a year and am happy with it. It's a little louder than stock but not much. The whole system bolted up pretty easy and the mufflers proven to be much tougher than the $15 one I had on there before.

Been running a Borla for about 3 mos. I love it, they are a glaspack type muffler, and once i installed it, i could feel performance gains all through the range. YOu can tell it just opens up the flow a lot. Real easy to install, looks good too. It sounds great, you can just tell it is a little more rumble at idle, it sounds great when you are accelerating, but it is not noticable or annoying at all on the highway. it is kinda expensive though, i found mine in the yard. it is 16g stainless so it will never rot out on ya.

cat back system from Rusty's. I got the 50 series, and i really like it. not too loud, but loud enough that people will know you are there. it doesn't drone above 2k either.

I used to have Rustys Flowmaster cat back, and wish I still did. Nice mandrel bent heavy wall exhaust tube and the Flowmaster delta 50 has a good sound. I now have a magna flow muffler and an exhaust shop custom bent exhaust. They sound very close to the same but I think the flowmaster has the durability.

DynoMax from summitracing.com pretty damn cheap too! I went with this becasue I didn't want to wake my kids up in the morning. My dd 96 GMC gets parked further away frfom thier rooms, even with a 50series, they can hear it and say daddy's Vroom vroom.

I like teh DynoMax setup. Smooth sounds and great performance. Another reason I liked it, Dyno proven:

I've got the Gibson catback exhaust on mine.
It's got a nice sound at idle. Only bad thing is that the muffler is long round/cylindrical and doesn't fit tucked away like the original muffler does.

When the RPMs hit 2750 or so then it gets pretty loud.
On the highway I need to be cruising at 80MPH to hit that RPM. It gets on the loud side.
It doesn't create any resonating or vibrating inside the Cherokee though.
In all other conditions it sounds good.

Must get smoged dealer is replacing the cat under warranty. It seems the cat was bad enough to send parts into the muffler. I also wanted to keep it quiet for that morning warmup without waking everyone up.

I've had the Dynomax system for 2-3 years now and have been pretty happy with it. Good sound, not too loud, but lets you know there's something more than stock. The stainless tip was a nice touch, but is no longer there on mine. It fell victim to rust at the last hanger, and is probably on the side of the road somewhere. For the price, I would definetly recommend it.

The 40 series delta flows definetly sound the best on the 4.0....but the good sound comes at a price. They are LOUD...mine rattles your teeth when it resonates inside the cabin....might have to do with the fact that its just a turn down right after the FM.

Magnaflow would be my second choice...nice deep, mellow tone and its not loud at all.

I'm installing the Dynomax Super Turbo tomorrow based on all the searching and listening to sound clips.... $125 installed by a local shop.
