Can Sidriptide, or anyone get a OEM CPS for a '98 4L for around $43? This is the price that was in the forum on 7/5/03.

The CPS for my '98 had a list of $152 but my price (regular customer?) was $105.
PEP Brothers price was $50 something.
The newer CPS's have 3 wires and that is a hell of a charge for one more wire. I tried the junk yards and they won't even sell you one because they can't guarantee electrical parts.

My dealer quoted me about 150 installed, that with about an hour(they say) labor, at abot 80 an hour, plus our tax.

if you go to a u-pull -it yard you can usually grab all the parts you need and say "oh yeah... i forgot this one" and pull the sensor or whatever out of the tool bag and have him price it for u.. if you ask ahead they will usually say no but if its right there on the desk they wont turn away your cash.. good luck..

Thanks guys. I guess I'll have to look for a u-pull-it or hope it doesn't fail.

Well, I looked around for you at a couple of internet parts supply companies and couldn't find a CPS for a 1998 XJ. A CPS can be as cheap as 29.99, which I paid for mine at Advance Discount Auto Parts. I'd still poke around the net for a a bit to see if you can't find one for the newer XJ's. Here's the link for my '88...
