Prussian...not Persian...
Maybe that will help.
Is it that important?
Does the color yellow cause you problems?
Either way...its Prussian.

BPhunkXJ said it best:
first of all, prussian blue kicks ass.

If it is a "machinist's dye" you may find it at www.mcmaster.com

Gear marking compound works much better, and the stuff GM uses is the best, just ask for it at the parts counter.

I also use the GM, its yellow but that's fine, easier to see. I have also used(many times) yellow artists oil paint mixed with a bit of gear oil. Works quite well.

Beezelbub was referring to Prussian Blue ACRYLIC OIL PAINT found hiding in a small tube on a shelf at your local arts & crafts emporium.

cLAYH likes the mello yello, BJ likes the baby blue, I'd be the goofer and mix em both for groovy green... but I have some MOPAR stuff on hand so that's what I'd use first.

I got some prussian blue at NAPA, but it NEVER gave me a distinctive pattern like VegasAnthony posted! I much preferred the yellow stuff, but my gear kit didn't come with any and I couldn't find any locally Chevy/Dodge/Jeep dealer included. Jeff

I have used both, the blue shows up ok on used gears but I can't see it on new gears sets because most are black.
