transmission knocking

I have a '94 XJ, 5 speed and I keep getting a knocking noise coming from the transmission. I can feel the knocking when I hold the shifter. It only happens when I am driving, and it is in all the gears. It seems to be worst at slower speeds. I have checked the transmission mount and u-joints and every thing seems good. Anyone have any ideas what is causing this?

Tranny bearings usually growl, not knock.

How are your front and rear driveshaft u-joints?

Make sure its not the flexplate vibrating back thru the tranny.

If your flywheel is warped it can give you that vibration.Its just like having warped rotors...when you hit the breaks the car shimmies.

Is there an easy way to check if it is the flywheel?

unfortuneatly not really. many times if you see blueing on your flywheel it is a good indication but other than going off that its just pulling it and taking it to a shop to have it checked(a big pita if ya ask me.)
