Late model windows into earlier doors?

OK, I searched and didn't come up with much. A friend wants to try and put late model 1 piece glass into his '92 XJ that has wing windows. Is it possible if we get glass, regulators, etc. out of donor rig? The ONLY thing my search netted me is that the window guides are welded into the late model doors. So there will be some cutting of spot welds involved, etc. Other than that, any idea if this will work? If nobody knows, we may just be the guinea pig and try to make it work.
