Rubicon Clean Up Pics

We went through Tahoe side first to Lune Lake and, well, our trip started out eventful before we even hit the trail.

Our friend Stoney is at the gas station, and decides to light up a bowl in the driver's seat. Forgetting that he is still pumping gas, he decides to drive off. Sure enough the whole damn pump thingamajigger came with it. It was great for a laugh, and I'm sure he was pretty damn embarassed.

Here is a picture of Stoney himself:

After that lil incident, we were pretty close to the con. Heres bryan when asked if he thinks his locked D35 Will hold up:

Soon after we got onto the trail, and Brian was flexing up on everything he could, and Jes proved he put his tires wherever he damn well pleased.

Heres where Bryan twisted up his steering linkage

Heres where Bryan was high centered going up Big Sluice, it was pretty different and difficult this time around.

Heres Andy picking a harder line up true sluice and getting a little high centered too:

Heres kent comin up part of true sluice, you can see Bryan in the background pickin his nose.

Bryan! haha...he always had his tires on some type of rocks when parked, but hey, why not? He made me take pictures of him! :D

There wasn't much carnage; Bryan's bent linkage, Kents linkage got been, then was welded back together but then saved by Dan right as we bolted on the trail fixed linkage. Andy tore off a shock mount in the rear, and all Jes got was a nice dent in his door to match the other one. :D

More seriously though...this trip was a blast. For those of you guys that didn't come, don't miss out on this trip next year. Lotsa sweet rigs, nice people, nice prizes, and some much needed clean up work was there. We cleaned up buckeye saturday, and it definitley needed it. Worst part about it, human turds! Damn people why cant you bury your crap! I'd have to say Jes picked up the most crap, he was always yelling at something disgusting...and as you'd imagine there was some scary lookin crap out there.
Its always fun hanging out w/ you guys, thanks for the awesome trip. When I get my rig built (hopefully it'll be done after this winter) we can hit up alot more trails with ya guys.

I have alot more pics, I can burn some on CDs for the people that went, and for the others I could upload the rest possibly.

O just for the record the lighting up a bowl thing was an inside joke between us. Kent aka Stoney really ran off with pump filler. :D

Thanks for the pics Jason. We had a great time.

Glad everyone got off the trail OK, looked like everything was in hand when we left.

CRASH

Crash: DanH let us borrow a set of steering, so it was all good. It looked like Kent's ball joints were shot, and maybe one of Brian's too.

I guess we should go a little easier on each other, huh? :D

Thanks for the great time guys.

My buddy Ken can't stop laughing at the first pic of Stoney.....he says to pass along that he also had a great time!

It would have been even better had the pump stayed in his fuel filler door all the way to the 'Con.

Glad Sierra chapter was fully represented by 8 or 10 people. Very cool!

CRASH

Ya, I'm glad we had a pretty good turn out. I think we went above and beyond the call of duty on the Tahoe to Buck Island cleanup. We really made that end spotless, although the Buck Island area could use another go around on turd patrol.
I must say I was fully disgusted in what I found laying around, especially the underwear with the, ahem, full "load" in them. :x All in all I think we came out of there with a full change of clothes(slightly soiled) .
Anyway, thanks to all that participated, we can make a difference!

Jes

BTW, Bryan I need a spare drag link before my trip in November. I've seen them bend even with a 4" lift(ask GaryE).

I can't imagine the bean burrito that caused the "full load" incident.......

CRASH

Hi guys,

just popped in to say it was a fun trip and it was good to meet all of you.

Thanks for making buck a heckuva lot cleaner than the east side of spider was when we got there on Saturday :(

Kent, I'm not in a hurry for the steering setup, so take your time. I won't be going anywhere for a few weeks.

btw, if any of you local guys want to help out on Jergens on Nov 3rd, pop over to www.rivercityrockcrawlers.com for more details.

- Dan

ps: next time I'll leave my pet raccoons at home ;)

Great pics!! Too bad we missed the organized part of the clean-up, but I did leave with a pretty full bag of trash just from around our camp site. Tons of cans and stuff in the water!!

I'm glad you made it all the way back Kent. I wish you would have run the steering we welded up though. I am curious to see how well the battery welded link would of held, although testing at highway speeds wouldn't be smart. For future reference, we talked with Frank at Robb's and using their welder wouldn't have been a problem once we got it there.

Jeff

Hey Dan, good to meet ya and party with your group. Feel free to come by here any time and see what's going on.

Jes

Crash and Jes deserve major kudos for the amount of trash they hauled out of the trail. Keven, Tom and I got to play Cal Trans and work on the new bypass. Apparently, there will be another work weekend up there in a couple of weeks that will close the old, flat, fast dirt section and resume the old Rubicon trail.

Sorry we didn't hang with y'all more. Tom and I only had about 3 hours of sleep on Friday night after the bars closed and we left sac. Dan-H nice to meet you, and welcome TJ guys on our XJ board.

See ya

We had plenty of help from the pre-pubescent segment of our club. 8)

WTF happened to your rig on the way out? I hear talk of a "broken front driveline"?

Haha...thanks man...

Now that you've teased me, I want details. You can't keep me hanging like this!

CRASH

OMG! Sean, were you trying to impersonate a rice boy? The XJ is not the BMW, ya know!

What part broke? A 1310 joint?

CRASH

[quote:61fd434180="SeanP"]Broken front driveline, I will not admit any details in public. It was fun running the trail and gatekeeper in 2LO.

'P, we're waiting...
