need to identify my tranny

Its a 98 with 4.0 auto. I am trying to determine if it is the AW or the Chrysler so I can cahnge the fluid. The AW takes Dex III and the Chryco takes ATF +4. The pan is a rectangle.

My 98 has the AW4 so I would say yours does as well. Not sure if they used both in that year.

I believe they've always used the AW4 with the 4.0, so I am quite positive it's the AW4.

if you are too unsure call up a dealer and have the vin number ready...they should be able to either tell you or point you in the right direction
