idle air control valve

I just replaced my idle air control valve and I'm still having high idle problems only after cruise speed. Idle is corrected only after ignition is shut off and then on again leading me to believe it is a valve or silenoid problem and not an air leak in a hose. Anyone have a suggestion?

I've read here that it may be the TPS or CPS. A search will bring up dozens of hints.

It could be your O2 sensor too. I had the same problem with my 89. I replaced the sensor and problem gone!

I had the same problem. It was a vaccum leak between the intake and head. Spray some carb cleaner around any place there could be a vaccum leak and if the idle goes down for a second there's the problem.

Did you clean the housing well where the idle air control motor "cone" seats?
