Won't budge. Anybody got a 'shade tree' way to remove the axle shaft seals on an 8.25?

Can't you pry them out like any other c-clip axle seal?

Man, they just won't budge. Tried several different screwdriver sizes...and this is on a 2001 XJ axle.

Man, I tried to change the bearing and seals a few weeks ago too. I rented the slide hammer with puller jaw and no luck. I just gave up. I think this tool will work...

looks a lot like the special Chrysler tool in the FSM, but it's expensive and even if this does work, I don't know how I'm going to get the bearing and seal back in. I compared the new parts with the axle hole and the parts pretty big, tight press fit.

Fortunately I'm not trying to pull the bearing. Should just pop out though, no?
