2.5l & 2.8l 3.73 or 4.11

Usually, the 2.8 l went with 3.73 axle ratios, and the 2.5 l got 4.10s (4.11). There have been other combinations reported, so best to check ( the tag on the rear dif, or count the revolutions, or open the dif and count teeth on ring and on pinion).

My '84 with the 2.5 and auto has 3.54 gears. talk about SLOW. So, yeah, defenitely verify the gears.

84-86 is pot luck.... aqnything from 3.31 fuel economy package, to 4.10's! I have seen 3.55's and 3.73's the most in those years. With 4.10's being not as common in those years as what people think! Oh yea I have yet to see a 84 with 4.10 too... they usually have 3.73's!

My 85 has a 2.5 engine, 3 speed 904 tranny, with 3.73 gears. With 31" tires it is ok on the highway but crappy in the city. I will be going to 4.56's in the future.

Kim.
