Rubicon Express 3.5" flex or 3.5" ride????

Ok so I am torn betwen the Rubicon express 3.5" with springs

but what do I get flex or ride?

Obviously I want great flex, so first thought would be the flex kit....but could I get the results with the ride kit.

As far as differences go it just seems the flex has sway bar discos. But at closer inspection it appears that the lower arms have heims. Is this true???

What if I got the ride kit and just didn't use a swaybar at all....would I regret it?

How about the rear swaybar? Does that get disconnected with tis kit. I wan good flex in the rear too.

If anyone has these kits post pics and tell which you have. Thanks a ton. Just want to make sure I spend my money right.

Do a search. We recently debated the differences about these 2 kits.

BTW, my vote goes to the Flex.

and just get rid of the rear swaybar

I have no experience with either kit but as far as sway bars go ditch the back all together.. and the front some run with no sway bars with no ill effects. just try it and see how you like it you can always put it back on...

If you are going to wheel go with the super flex,I am going with the ride kit since most of the off roading I do is in cow pastures...
Either way I highly suggest going with jeepinoutfitters.com
Jeepin Jason is a member here and their deals cant be beat...

I looked at both, after MUCH (months) of research I got the FLEX. Its awesome! Throw away the rear sway bar(save all hardware and connectors for later fab jobs) I upgraded to JKS on front. I got mine from Dirk at www.DPGoffroad.com He is VERY knowledgable and by FAR the best price I could get anywhere. I also got the $nice$ OME shocks, they are not cheap, but man, my XJ on 32" rides better than it did stock! (not that that is that great really).

Here are some pics if your interested.

Hope this helps, sorry I got so far off topic, I just remember a little over a year ago being in your shoes with a stock XJ!

Have a good one,
Jason

I have the flex on mine. Two suggestions that will save you aggrivation later. Fisrt I would go with adjustable lower control arms, and I would go with jks disconnects or RE gen 2 disconnects. Just a couple of things I wish I would have done when I ordered mine. Hope that helps. Later.

Just put in a 3.5" Super Flex kit with JKS Quicker disconnects and a RE adjustable trackbar. It handles real well offroad. Just ditch the swaybar when you're lifting it.

If you're looking at the kits w/rear leafs, simply from a cost perspective the SuperRide kit doesn't make sense if you ever plan to wheel your rig on anything tougher than a dirt road. Going by our prices, the SF kit is $70 more than the SR kit. The SF kit comes with swaybar disconnects. Buying new disco's later on will run you a minimum $126.

Plus the SF kit comes with bumpstop pucks for the front. I know a lot of the young bucks will rant about how they dont' need bumpstops, etc, but most any seasoned wheeler will tell you that properly set bumpstops are an important part of a well-tuned suspension.

And the SF kits come with the SF arms of course, which use the SF joints. The SF arms take the stress off the mounts when you get flexxed up. Here's my favorite pic to illustrate this point...

Now imagine if you had a rubber bushing right there instead... ;)

That joint is sweet!!!!!!!!!

What advantage does the RE gen 2 or jks disconnect have over the stock ones?

My vote also goes for Flex, but then again, I replaced the arms a while back with JKS adjustibles.

Stock swaybar links are too short, and are a PITA to disco when you wanna hit the trail.

um, well, the stock links aren't quick disconnects, they're just endlinks. they're too short to work properly with a 3.5" lift anyway.

I'm sorry I didn't say what I was thinking....

by stock I meant the disco's that come with the kit.....sorry

I mean what are the difference between the RE discos and the RE gen 2 discos or JKS discos?

I ditto on wishing I would have gone with Adj. Control arms! I never thought I would go bigger, but I think I am going to go bigger and with 33's, it just is so streetable with 3.5 and 32"s.... way better than expected.

Heck, the other day a new H3 was next to me, his tires were taller, and the bottom of his frame was taller than mine.... and his is ALL stock. With a rear locker....... of course his wsa 32K!

How much trimming (if any) did you do for 32s with 3.5" lift? Any pics? I have a 97 as well.

If planning to stay with 31's, what advantage would teh adjustable lower arms provide?

Personally I don't see any benefit to them. The stock LCA mounts on the body have enough caster adjustment in them to get you in spec, and if you're running so much lift that the stock adjustment isn't enough, then you're running enough lift that you should be doing drop brackets or long-arms.
