well i didn't see it happen, as i stayed back to make sure bob/charlie/tony were okay, but
there's the water crossing (bridge) just as you enter the dirt road to get to the trailhead...
apparently troy and justin got a little stuck and waterlogged. i blew through in 4-HI later
to find them on the other side w/ hoods up and plugs out. ;)
so did anybody get pix?

Sorry Terri, but if you truely "blew thru" the creek, you'd have been right there with us with the hoods up.......... you took the slower, smarter approach. I estimate I hit it at about 40 mph - that's blowin' thru it. The force of the water bent the rear portion of my front fenders out like dumbo ears. Friggin' water came over the hood and down into the cowl, then out the floor heater vents.
Didn't help that both Justin and I had cold air intake systems. Probably would have been just fine with the factory air box.
At least the water was nice! I figured it'd be glacier-cold but it was just right for wading out to pull my winch line.
That sums up the ONLY time I wish I had a snorkle...... :laugh3:

justin... i really felt bad for you. seeing you tooling around BV late saturday afternoon and hearing that thing sputter and cough around town; Lone Wolf'ing it at Subway; The picture John posted of you roasting a single winnie by yourself on the rocks...
"man, it really doesn't get any worse for that kid..."
Even my wife felt bad for you and she didn't really understand what went wrong..

Yup, bad deal. Been there, but atleast he wasn't alone and I suspect he had a ride home if it all went real sour as we never leave anyone behind.
Say, that brings up a trail cooking question.
How many ways CAN you cook a Hotdog on the trail?
Will it matter if it's a CHEESE Hotdog?

I can't believe that with the 6 to 8 jeeps that were there, no one had a camera out?
I mean TerrI was there, he always has a camera out.

It seems to be running fine. Just a little hiccuping, which is probably from the spark plug wires more than likely needing changed. I Leave in about a hour. FUUUN. Well I'll be talking to you all again in a bit, gotta go get this driving and dorm stuff done with!

Unfortunately Terri(y) has bolted all of his camera's to the underside of his Jeep and they can no longer be used for photo ops. But they sure didn't help him up Cleveland rock either??? :)

Well, I made it to California. I can say that I already miss clean air, and being able to see more than a couple miles in the mornings. The jeep made it suprisingly, but not without some problems. I couldnt go any higher than 60(didnt want to blow anything) in 3rd. If I put it in drive the added stress of the trailer would cause the enigne to start blowing smoke out the tailpipe and scaring the living crap out of anyone behind me. I THINK I might have fried my gears, but am not sure. How does one tell if they have? I was getting this helicopter sound front the front end, and at 600 miles of travel checked on some things. Well I dont think there was much of any diff fluid in there. I threw some in and checked it the next day( kept driving), and when I popped the plug to see if there was any diff oil still in there there was, but it was really milky looking. Well If I did fry my gears, here we come dana 60! Ill be back out sometime, and I need to findout who ever the hell is out here and go wheelin!
