Yeah I know I got excited to see the return of the XJ when I saw that heading in an advertisement then I saw the little kitty of Jaguar at the bottom of the ad...... they shouldn't go getting peoples hopes up like that!!!

There's always hope!

I took that Commando concept to photoshop and gave it a lift, new bumper w/ tow hooks and room for a Warn (I know,scale is a little off), better looking xj style (under headlight) park light configuration with rounded down hood above the lights, Cherokee nameplate instead of commando, a beefier rear bumper, a little fender trim job, and rocker protection. I'm imagining another great straight six under the hood standard, w/ opt V8, factory daul battery, solid axles with selectable lockers, good gear ratio, disc brakes on all 4, and a "built in" Uniden or Cobra CB radio in the dash! well I guess it would need a new code, how about GJ (geejay) for a code name, it could stand for good jeep! I'd be savin my pennies so I could pay cash for a used one in 2009!

Ha ha, even better. Load a couple of those little XJs in that vessel! They'll never miss a few of them... I am sure they don't use them for off roading like we would!

I can see it now.

No commander I promise for the duration of the trip I will fold the seats down and sleep in it.

I had a chat with my bro-in-law who used to work for Mopar (parts distribution.)

2 things to note:

This was originally a joint venture with D/C. The agreement is that the vehicles will *NEVER* leave China.

Secondly, it was a low-volume operation. Less than 500 units/year.
