84-96 to 96 up door panel conversion

Guys 1st ... yeah i did the search thing and came up with one person that said they had put the new style door panels on the back doors and that alot of people talked about replacing the entire door.... but what I want to do is put the 96+ door panels in my 1988 ... i know the door handle is in a differnt place and this would/may require moving the rods around /some cutting ... but anyone done it???? can it be done???
