NP242/D44 H&T SYE w/ Front D/S..??

I have searched and read all the info about using a front driveshaft in the rear with a hack and tap SYE. All the info tell me about an NP242 connecting to an 8.25 with a late model front drivershaft. Will this mod work with a Dana 44?

I am currently shimmed (4*) with a YJ slip yoke and would like to employ a more reliable configuration.

The question, again:

Is connecting the NP242 to a Dana 44 with a hack and tap SYE and a late model front driveshaft (fitted with the appropriate Spicer flange) possible?

Btt...

Just get a double cardigan shaft made with the slip yoke for the 242 and forget the hack and tap sye for the 242...they have a tendency to break off... Its been done...

I haven't heard of that option, yet.. Would you happen to know who builds these driveshafts and what they might cost... roughly..?
