Oil pump ??

I'm replacing my oil pump today not rebuilding the engine and the manual said to just run the engine, nothing at all about priming. Is the pump self priming or have the writers of the FSM dropped the ball yet again?

I'm replacing my oil pump today not rebuilding the engine and the manual said to just run the engine, nothing at all about priming. Is the pump self priming or have the writers of the FSM dropped the ball yet again?
FSM assumes you can just go to the Parts Department and get another one, make sure it wet with heavy oil and it should prime ok.
