I have a really big "Realistic" brand CB and I am having trouble finding a location for it, I figure I have to drill somewhere, Can someone please tell me what have you done on your vehicles?

I've seen a lot of guys mount them to the passenger side of the center console, vertically. It all boils down to whats more convienient for you and your passengers.

i mounted mine between the visors

Unfortunately, they are not pics of xj mounts, but I thought it might give you some ideas. If you can't find anything on here, check out www.jeepforum.com and do a search there.
p.s. mine went up top over the rearview, but it's a little guy though.
goodluck

just one more link with some good stuff

My "Realistic" mounted. I used a piece of stainless steel bolted to the tunnel and bent it up so the CB was mounted at the angle I wanted.

I took out the ash tray and my radio just happened to be the perfect size to fill the hole. The back of the radio hung down into the tray on the console and I ran the wires over the front of the console tray so they were out of sight. The CB was grey so it matched the dash nicely.

Overhead console

We've all spent some time on this question and it reminded me that I hadn't posted pictures about my CB job yet.

My '90 XJ came with one of those overhead consoles. In front there is the temperature gauge and compass. In the back of the console is a garage door opener slot and a sunglasses holder. Mine even came with some pretty gay 80's sunglasses stuck in there.

I don't need more storage space (the bin behind the parking brake is OK for me), so I took the console out and hacked out some plastic to fit a Cobra 19DXIV.

It works for me. The speaker is right next to my ear, and the knobs are closer than my shifter. The tough part is running the wiring through the headliner, but if you have patience and some spare wire (and connectors for the antenna coax), it's the best place for it. The microphone detaches when you don't want it there.

P.S. This is a good time to recover your headliner too. Just don't use crappy jersey fabric that doesn't stick to glue like me!!!

I have an overhead console, but my CB won't fit there, I'm thinking of buying my neighbors CB, it's real small and it should fit, $40. USD

Thanks to all of you

this one is brand new too, I've seen it in the box, my neighbor is a trucker, he wanted it to keep up with his buddies on a vacation, but the wife said "that's a big no-no pal"
