Fordyce trip 8/5-7
This will be my 1st trip in almost a year. I have a few friends that will be coming with me and a few Jeep and Toyota buggies. Who can make it out? This is the weekend before Sierra Trek and their rock stacking etc. If anyone wants to go up in a group from Sacramento then post up. I'll either be going up late Friday or early Saturday.

I know, I'm just messing around with him. He (Lawn Cher) is giving me a hard time. That's o.k. I'm serious though about running Fordyce, I will not contribute to this thread to make it what the JV trail run thread became, that was a little wishful thinking on my part. The local trails are fine with me for now at least.
So who can make it 8/6-7? You don't need thousands of $ into your rig, just maybe dual lockers, skids, etc, stuff you want to have for trails like Fordyce and the Con. Anyone lerking on this site who might want to come? There are some of you (Blair) :laugh3: Maybe you guys scared him off. He has 10" lift and 35's, he was getting beat up around here pretty bad he said, I sold my spare set of dana 30 axle shafts.

Apparently what they do (and I say they because I haven't yet joined the redneck ranks) is use a plastic jug (like a bleach bottle) as a big bobber with a baited hook on a line and a weight to keep it in place. It is a means to cover a large area of water with multiple lines until a fish takes the bait. Similar to trot-lines I guess. Kinda takes the sport out of it, but if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Wildebeast is quite a svelte beast. They are quite unattractive when it comes to facial features, though, so it would be a lovely descriptor for the less picturesque ladies.

Is this more hardcore than the Rubicon/Hell Hole, etc? I think I could handle it. I love how easy it is to climb stuff now with the dual lockers. Before the Rubicon trip and now this Fordyce trip, I have never had dual lockers. It makes things so easy to the point of almost boredom. I still do enjoy the wheeling and the scenery. The Pres in the club I went with came 20 feet from a bear when he lost his degree shim & lower leaf on his spring pack of his yj. He walked the trail and found it about a mile or so from where we were and locked eyes with a bear. The area was very scenic, I still don't know why this area is called "Hell Hole", it is too nice to be called that. Was there a massacre or something there. I know you are doing the Fordyce trail, but was wondering if anyone was up to running it 2 weeks before, to get a little practice in before the official day. I know that others in the group have been getting their rigs together to the point that they might be able to do a run like this before the official Fordyce run. Who can/want do this run? By doing it on this day, we would get to use the trail before the big Sierra Trek caravan goes through the trail and makes it too easy. You know many people in the group are not that hardcore and need to stack rocks so their open diff'd rigs can get through. Looking back, I had fun, but wished I would have ran the Swamp Lake trail with you guys. The Hell Hole trail had a couple intersting spots, but was otherwise pretty mild. I need more hardcore stuff now that I have dual lockers and am set up. have a xj dana 44 as well and love the thing. Would it have killed Jeep to put this in all their jeeps? You really don't know what you are getting from a boneyard unless you open up the cover and look it over. The thing might not have any gear oil in there for all you know. Great find and a unbelievable price. Did you just happen on it when looking around the yard? Where you looking for a xj dana 44? I see them once in awhile up here in Sac. My bro got 1 for $300, I saw another 1 at that yard and posted it here, and a fellow NAXJA member got it for $250. We got to snag those things up when we see them. I wish you the best with the axle, it sounds like it might needs some new bearings, but it could be so many things.

Well, I tried out jug fishing last night after work and it is a pain in the ass. BTW, I didn't run into any water buffalo or hippopotamus on the Mississippi River. So what that means is that I'm cancelling my plans for the catfish tournament and am available for the Fordyce run. The problem is that my rig isn't anywhere near done. But I'd still like to see the scenic trails in California. Could I ride with one of you guys so that when my rig is ready (its green, by the way) I'll know what I'm in for? Seriously, besides staying over at my place for awhile (my wife and little dog might not like it), I'd take you on Fordyce or the Rubicon. Doesn't that tell you something?
Yeah, that you guys are freaking morons who talk about animals. Do yourself a favor and go to the zoo. I think you were a little deprived as children. I think these animals can handle themselves. If you were talking about sheep, I'd be a little worried. :)
FYI: I know you guys are just messing around and trying to piss me off by taking my thread off topic. I'll try hard to stop doing this as well. On a side note, I must have the highest % of participation and interest on my threads. I feel so special. :)

Is the guy on the left the sheep's pimp? Looks like he's holding the cash......
Bryan, everyone's got a price.
It's just a matter of negotiation.
What's it gonna take for you to spend two days and one night on the trail with Big Red?

I'm a little scared of sleeping 1 night on the trail with Bryan after seeing this. Maybe a day run is better, I don't care even another 19 hour run like last year would be good. I'd feel like "Canteen Boy" (Adam Sandler on SNL with Mr. Baldwin the camp instuctor).

Either will do great in helping with the first water crossing. They may want to hang out there for a little while, so maybe you can plan lunch right after?
