Ya It was a good trip. Gary, Chuck, and I all had some fun and some adventures trying to find our way through because Chuck and I have never done the Con and Gary has only been part way through.

I was relatively carnage free. I had a small dent under the left rear fender flare next to an existing dent, Chuck had a hole in a Diff cover and Gary had a few small dents (relative to the pre-existing dents). I was feeling pretty good and then on day two around noon near the Rubicon Springs, I took a bad line and laid her on the side. :doh:

Thanks to a group of people behind us we were able to use two winches and get the rubber back down. They were very eager to help. My Jeep started right up and we headed down the trail. I think I was just trying to go to fast and wasn't analyzing the trail that well. We had to stop in a fairly narrow section for two groups of Jeeps running the trail backwards to come up the hill. I can't remember how many there were in the first group but there was 7 in the second group. This delay of these two groups frustrated us and the people behind us. I think that in my effort to allieviate the stress I was just rushing. :dunce:

The damage could have been worse. I messed up the fender, hood, rear quarter, the roof is partially caved in, the rear passenger door has about a .75" gap between the seal and body, the rear window got shattered, the parking light shattered, the rear tail light is shattered, the hatch is cracked and the driver door sticks. :tears:

I was luckily not hurt. I had my seat belt on, all my gear and spare parts were strapped in, I pulled my arm in when I started to tip and I shut off the engine imediately.
I have full coverage insurance and a $100 detuctable so I will call my insurance tomorrow to see what they say.
To make latters worse, 1/2 way up Cadillac hill, one of my Rusty' UCA that I use on my long arm system busted, so I finished the trai RockKrawler style.

Lessons I learned:

1. Take your time, after all it is your Jeep
2. My bumpers are incredibly strong
3. I wish that I had gotten a selectable locker up front
4. Drunk Pirates only have 6 words in their vocabulary (F@#$, rock, gas, S@#t, beer, tire)
5. people don't like it when others run the rubicon backwards
6. Quick steel is pretty cool
7. The mosquitoes are invincable to spray and have no mercy
8. I trust my parts more than Rutsy's
9. Mountain dew does not easily come off a windsheild when after it dries
10. I am glad I had my CO2 tank, cooler, and spare parts strapped in

I actually had fun though and will do it again. The weather was great and it wasn't to crowded. All in all it was fun and we all got home safe.

You won't have trouble with your insurance company. The coverage doesn't have any off road exclusions. Besides, they can't imagine when we say "off road" exactly what we were doing. :)

I just went through this in Nov when I rolled mine in Johnson Valley. I had no problems from the insurance company, but they did total my vehicle. I took the money and fixed it.

Looks like you had an adventerous trip. I have always liked the fact that there are so many people willing to lend a hand up there when you are in a jam.

We NEVER go off-road. We drive on country roads, farm roads, ranch roads, etc.....

That was a great trip loads of fun, and I have finally done the con! I must agree with Richard though you can do it in two days but I would rather spend more time. It would also be good to go with somebody that knew their way around the trail.

surprisingly enough all my new junk held together quite well, rubbing was minimal with the new rubber. I poped a couple of beads and finished off my draglink that johnson valley first beat up, it got me home but its doing a banana impression rather than being a strait arrow :D

The long arms are very nice, much better for climing rocks and strait up or undercut ledges. The ride was also greatly improved. The anti-wrap bar seemed to help traction and eliminated wrap. And the new tires really helped out also.

No it was before the springs. A narrow downhil section that was about 1/2 hour or so before the springs. Chuck, Gary, want to take a guess about the distance?
Chuck was infront of me and had trouble with the line he took. I decided to take a different line which put my right tire up high and then my left dropped off a ledge that I didn't see. There was a few seconds where I was doing the tetter-totter thing. I tried to reverse to back up and change the momentum but my timing was off and down I went.

Man! Now I wish I had come even more. I could have been in the truck that rolled. Dam Job! I’m glad you are ok though. It is a shame though that was a pretty Jeep. I don’t mean that I a Girly kinda way either. No, no pretty in a manly kick me jeeps butt kinda way.

Wow! Great trip. All of this wheeling is making me very anxious to go. Can't wait to see your long arms Gary. Don't listen to a word of Richards ;)

On a serious note: Glad that the roll over wasn't worse. For you local guys, Blue Collar Supply sells these great recessed d-ring tie downs for $4. great to mount in the cargo area and attach ratchet straps to. Also, I think that a roll cage is in my very near future.
