u-joint play

I have about 2-3 millimeters of play in my passengers side front u-joint.
Would this cause some kind of steering or other driveline vibration?
I am refering to vibe's in the driveline while in 2wd and on the highway.
Its a 98 4.0L XJ Sport.
Also, is it dangerous or unsafe in anyway to travel with a u-joint thats has some play in it?

Any play in a u-joint is too much. Is it dangerous/unsafe? Probably not cause I've seen some pretty bad ones over the years but it's nothing to mess around with either. If you can see movement in the bearing caps, it needs service.
