yes, even with sye and cv driveshaft you need shims, go to tom wood's site, and read driveline 101... that will give you an idea what needs to be done, i have similar setup, and i have 3* shims

I got right at 5" with a RE lift, swapped out my Dana 35 for a Dana 44 and wound up with 4* for the shims. I think that my driveshaft measured 34", but that might be wrong. And I do not have my t-case lowered.

shims are to set the angle right for optimal driveshaft performance...
read the link above...
all the shims do is change the pinion angle....

w/ the cv shaft you want your pinion directly inline with your driveshaft or a hair lower to compensate for axlewrap. That is why u need shims...
