towing package with D35

I have an 87 xj with the original towing package and it only has a dana 35 axle and it looks like pretty small leaf springs. can i still tow stuff even though the strength in the back of the suspension is weak or should i not? i plan on maybe towing a 16 ft. sailboat a couple times this summer and would like to know if it well kill my jeep or ruin it at all. thank you

Seriously though, you can tow with the D35.

I towed a 99 dodge stratus (on a 2 wheel dolly) from Seattle to Philly w/o a problem. Well, one problem......horrible gas mileage.

Run it with 75-140 synthetic gear lube and you should be fine.
