We found a sick Golden Eagle over the weekend while on an easy trail ride. He was sitting on a rock when we stopped to get a picture of him. When he hopped off to walk away we figured out he wasn't ok. So we caught him in a sweatshirt and being careful not to damage any feathers we carried him back over to the lead jeep who turned around to take the bird back out to an animal rescue place who transferred him to a bird sanctuary. They determined that he had caught a virus from pigeon he killed and ate. It made his whole body ache, caused his throat to swell shut so he was dehydrated and hungry when we got to him. They expect a full recovery as he's already started improving and was eating good. When my father in law got to the animal rescue they didn't believe that he was holding onto an injured eagle...once they got out there and saw him, the guy started shaking and immediately wanted to know where the talons were. I'll try to get ppictures up soon.

He was real out of it but started perkin up once we gave him some water. We were glad to have someone who's dealt with birds before...My father in law used to raise red tail hawks so he did all the handling of the bird...:D

Hey, that is awesome to hear about. Count me in as a environmental wheeler, as weird as that sounds! Keep us updated as too when he's released, etc.

Nothing wierd about being an enviromentally-conscious wheeler. I'd like to think we're all that way at heart.

I've stopped before safely on a 2 lane road to rescue a turtle that was in the middle and sent him on his way, stuff like that, lol!

In the first pic, it looks like some sort of James Bond assasin team gone wrong, lol!
I actually own the promotional booklet for the 1979 model years and that one is in it.
