A/C performace test

Can someone please confirm the A/C performance test for a ’91 & ‘94 XJ (R12 system)?.

The FSM lists the following specs.: lo = 30-35 psi, hi=160-235 psi at 80F
My actual test numbers are: lo=22 psi, hi=270 psi. at 85F for both Jeeps.
The outlet temperature is 40F inside both cars.

Both systems have been recently vacuumed and charged with 409 refrigerant (2.4 lb as required). No other alternative refrigerant for R12 is available in my area.

Are the systems working properly or is the FSM wrong?

Thank you for your help.

The temperature/pressure correlation is different for every refridgerant; therefore, the FSM information probably won't be of any value to you. The best bet may be to check the refridgerant lines entering and exiting the evaporator (at the firewall). When properly charged, the outlet line should be a little colder than the inlet. If you're interested, I think some of the butane based refridgerants might be available to you in Canada. Some folks are afraid of them but those same folks drive around with a tank full of gasoline.
