I bent mine where the adjusting sleeve and threaded part are , up at the x-member. It's been like this for awhile, just wonder if I need to get concerned about it, I carry a spare link that fits any of my rear 4 link and is also the same length the LA's. I could pop it in there if the front arm broke and just run one upper, I'm just curious if anyone has broken one in that spot?

Did you come down on it hard while dropping off of a ledge or something? Ive never seen the RE one bend. Heck, bend it back and sleeve it. :D

Might wanna check around and see when you purchased yours... word on the street is that a bad batch might be responsible... info HERE (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=159461&highlight=Long+Arm+bent)

I bent one at the threads. Hit a rather large rock at 35 mph.

That's where mine is bent...did you say to hell with it and leave it alone? Mine has been like this for the last several trail rides.

It was like that for about a year. I have different suspension now.

If RE really knows that this is a problem they should be replacing the bad parts for free. It doesn't sound like an isolated incidence. If you hit a rock going 35MPH or hang a D60 on it and disconnect one of the control arms, it's your fault. If this was a Rusty's long arm that bent, 90% of this forum would be getting their pitch forks and torches and heading to Alabama right now.

Who said anything about it being RE's fault?

I changed suspension because I didn't like the climbing characteristics of a radius arm style suspension.

I said that when you bent your LA at 35MPH it was YOUR fault, not RE's. I was refering to HTek's link above to Pirate4X4 that said:

"HEY GUYS THEY KNOW THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM, ASK THEM WHAT THE ROCKWELL HARDNESS IS YOU WILL FIND OUT THAT A LARGE BATCH THEY SENT OUT IS NO BETTER THAN A GRADE 5 BOLT."

I meant that if this statement is true that RE should do something about it. If not, then people with RE long arms should be carful when using them as rock sliders.

One of my friends bent the right rear in his tj. I watched it happen. He didn't hit it that hard. Looks the same as the ones on pirates. Its been like that for over a year now. RE would not do anything about it.

I know three TJ guys running the RE long arm kits on the rigs and all have bent the lower arms near the threaded portion. I'd say the arms are fine for sliders but can't seem to take an impact.

Barrio Fabworks is in pre-production stage for a set of Titanium longarms for all those interested...

WTF???

Bend it, build another one. My RE arms have 5 years on them and they are still straight. However, if I was jackassing around and bent one, I sure wouldn't start a flame of RE on the intardweb.

Just for the record I don't think the construction or materials used were faulty. I dropped of about a 5 foot ledge on them and bent one slightly at the threads, I'm still running it with no problems. I was really just wondering if anyone had BROKEN on at the threads. I am a firm believer in the theroy that ANYTHING on a trail rig that is used hard can and will break, I don't care who made it.
