Climate control question...

Ok, I have a question about the vents in my dash for the A/C.

My vent on the left side of the dash nearest the window has what looks like a piece of cardboard in it; is this normal and if not how do I go about taking that vent out?

I have tried to take out my dash bezel but couldn't get it out due to the steering column being in the way, looks like the column needs to come apart, is this so???

That bezel will come up just slide it up the column...(vandals got mine out without breaking it) after you take the screws out. Not sure about the vent though, never really paid any attention to it.
