One more of them.

The process is called chip seal or seal coat or oil and chip, depending on where you are from. Last year we shot just over 1,300,000 gallons of oil.

We also do street maintenance for cities and towns, and blacktop work.

They used to pave roads like that in northern NJ when we moved there 65, yearly, it was hell on rocker panels for sure and none to comfortable if you were on a bicycle and fell over.... even worse on a skate board.

Damnit...I just spent all day pumping oil into the spreader out of my truck...thats the last thing I needed to see when I got home....Maybe I will take some pics tomorrow since it was in the desert and quite scenic.

Where I grew up in Connecticut, they oiled and sanded the roads, and it wouldn't harden for weeks. The sand went on pretty thick and loose, and it took a long time to work into the oil, so you'd have alternating patches of thick sand and oil puddles. I learned to ride a bike on that stuff, nasty for traction, especially trying to climb steep hills, and by the time I got home I'd sometimes have to wash my legs with gasoline. It stuck to the undersides of cars like crazy, and after a while you'd have to get under there and pry big chunks out of the fenders. You'd think it might have served as an undercoating, but it didn't - it just sealed the moisture and salt and crap in.

Sorry guys, but 90% of the roads in the country are done this way.
Yes it is a little tough the first few days, but if it is done properly, the road is fine in less than a week.
I know of a municipality in my are that did their own work and was sued because of an accident, they put the aggrigate down way too heavy.

Neither - network security. I used to have to spend a fair bit of time in the datacentre, though, and it is a complete and total utter mess. I've put in my time racking and wiring, though. Great skill to have, but glad to be out of it for over a decade now :)
