I want to take my family (me, wife, daughter) on a short vacation, maybe 3-5 days, either in Utah or in one of the neighboring states. Does anyone have a suggestion for a "family fun" kind of place? The wifey won't camp, so I'm looking more for city & amusement park sort of places that offer a variety of things to do and see. Lagoon doesn't count....been there, done that and it's WAY too close.

We had planned for Disneyland & Seaworld, but that doesn't look good now. I'm coming up empty for something to do a bit closer to home than California. Any ideas? Thanks,

Tom

Tom,

Ever thought of going down and checking out some of the national parks in Utah. Bryce Canyon is one of my favorites, and about 5 hours away. Lots of things to see and do, ie; hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, touring the park, a lot of shops selling Indian type stuff. Rubys Inn is a nice place to stay, good restaurant, and seems like there's a lot of things to do around there.

Just one idea.

Red fish lake in Stanley, Id. Look it up on line, you will dig it.

Redfish lake is great... except she doesn't like to camp and and that's about all there is around Stanley. Pine beetle outbreak is BAD too.. lots of red trees :( Sad, very sad. Sun Valley is cool, shopping and nightlife with a movie star here and there. Sedona, AZ is suposed to be really cool too. Never been there yet but supposed to be one of the most romantic places in the US  :kissyou:

Flagstaff is an idea, It is close to Sedona and the Temperature is o.k. during summer months. Take the Oak creek canyon drive down to Sedona from Flag, one of the most beautiful drives you will ever make.

Northern CA./San Francisco Bay area.

You've got the 'City" (gays, druggies, weirdo’s, Tom & Mary), Paramount's Great America (amusement park), Santa Cruz (amusement park/boardwalk, beach), Monterey Bay Aquarium (big fish tank).

Lots to do in the Northern CA./S.F. Bay area. All VERY hotel friendly.
