They did for a little while, but the contract settled on the GY's and Swampers became obsolete in the Army system.

Ummm not to rain on Okie's parade, but I am pretty sure the 1009 did NOT have 1-ton axles or any sort of locker front or rear (mine stayed stuck enough in Ft Riley clay) They were called a 3/4 ton FWIW

The 1008 1.25 ton pickups were the ones with a 60/14 and a rear detroit.
