HELP ! No oil pressure UPDATE - PROBLEM FOUND

The gear at the bottom of the distributor broke off (I'm told it's
uncommon but not unheard of) and was lying in the bottom of
the pan. Oil and inside of pan was pristine - pump looked fine.
They thought it was the sending unit or wiring - but changed
their mind when they replaced it and nothing changed - 18
years w/Jeep and they'd never seen this before.

Bottom line - $190 parts/labor + the tow

wasnt it covered under warranty?

They told me it was - covered under the 7-70 plan. All except the
towing and I don't think that will be worth the insurance hassle.
I was more concerned (well frantic actually) with just getting it to
a dealer and getting it fixed. I like to tinker - but a lot of this stuff
is WAY over my head.

This distributor piece is going in the mechanical failure "hall of
fame" on his desk!

We'll sort out the paperwork tonight.
