Gives you time to design a rocker for the jeep..by then, I'll be a back seat driver, but at least I'll be driving....

End of quote from doc moab, president and lynch mob target.
Define fixed..a dog gets fixed, he's not happy either :P
However, lets just say, I'm bringing the jeep to six states, in the morning, where they might be able to get the pinion nut off the back yoke..
I couldn't budge it, and it's already rounded a bit where the end caps did a tango on the yoke. Buddy of mine took me out to White Rock, with a 'what could happen?" look in his eye..kapow..first obstacle..he turns to me and says: "Are you sure you're good with God?" to which I replied somewhat indignantly, "I paid my tithe back in '82, I should still be under warranty."
So, yes, the curse of Poomba is still valid. Not one outing without breakage.
Anyway, fixed a couple of other things, minor, really, so it's coming along. Main thing is lack of funds..and lack of fun..Odd, when you're having a hell of a good time, the money just doesn't matter, but it matters a lot, when the fun runs out...but enough about women...(ducks and runs)
As far as my future plans with the jeep, I dunno. It's pissing me off, it's a money pit, I'm too old for this crap...and I just got my winch accessory kit this morning, and ordered a harbor freight ball ujoint kit an hour ago. Its a guy thing....

No worries, was a simple trip in to get the pinion nut removed..and the yoke replaced...and the drive shaft cut...and redone..and put back on..with larger everythings..and spares....it went something like this...
Poomba: "Hi, my name is.."
Driveline dude: "It's gonna cost you 320 bucks."
Me:"Um, I didn't tell you what the problem was."
DD: "You gotta jeep, right? Well, it's gonna cost ya 320 bucks. Going rate, as in, that's what it's going to cost ya."
Me: "Kay, all I need is this pinion nut taken off, and,
DD: "Wait, you can leave it with us, right?"
Me: "No, I live 110 miles away."
DD:"Looks like you could use the excercise, but hey, I ain't the Red Cross."
Me: "Tell me if I can save this yoke."
DD: "Sure you can save it, if ya need a paper-weight."
Others gather round, blood in the water, or something...
Me: "So, the yoke, some spares and a some nuts, cuz, apparently I've lost mine to go along with my marbles. Can this be fixed?"
DD: "What about the shaft?"
Me: "I thought for 320 bucks, I was already getting the shaft, what'd'ya mean, what about the shaft?"
DD: "Looks like a barber pole, buddy. Maybe you don't know what that looks like, not having any hair, but I can tell ya, it ain't a good thing, drive-line speaking."
So, I okayed the work, DD shouted at someone to run the rental check thru again, because they had a live one and patiently explained why every other shop screwed people, but since I was about to be an intimate friend, they'd take care of me, taking hold of my shaft and not letting go...
Lays it on the table, and sure as shi... er, shining like a beacon in the wilderness, it sure was twisted. Bent and twisted, which about now, suited my frame of mind. Then again, my frame's bent and twisted, and I don't mind.
So, we haggled, I plead poverty and the national debt, reminded him I was a Veteran, Dad was disabled, and Mom was a Nurse..at the VA, and got that gd'd pacifist down to 319.64.
Okay, what really happened was, I went in, and looked at more shafts than a Gay Rights Activist rally, and peered over their shoulder and made them explain everything they were doing, why they were doing it, and why this was better than what I had. Good people, they put up with me, and didn't bitch when I made 'em write down numbers and explain stuff 4 times so I'd know what the hell went on the jeep, and even had the guy explain balancing the driveshaft before it went on. While I was going home on 21st South, I got out and did routine maintainence, since we were only doing 3 miles an hour in a 60, and laughed at the 'fines doubled for speeding' signs when we raced up to 15 mph once. I had some cute lil girl cut in front of me, and that's the closest I'm to being married, cuz, in this state, if I'm that close to driving all the way thru your rear end you're entitled to child support, or something. Made it home, didn't stop at Brandy's, Popeye, cuz, damnit, I've got a jeep, and I've gotta keep my priorities straight. Hell, it'd never work, cuz, if she bitched about the jeep being dirty, justified homicide or not, they frown on that for some reason.

It ain't the free time, I can tell you that. We're still on 5 12.5 shifts, with the occasional forced 18's. Took the day off because frankly, I didn't wanna deal with their crap AND turn 45 at the same time..so, I did what I always do to rest and relax...I spent the day in a shop, watching my jeep not move.

However, I did try and work on it myself, and getting it mostly done, took it in and insisted on watching the work, so I knew wtf was going on.
And I'm now talking to and replying to myself, because I stopped and got a six pack of radiator coolant...for my jeep. :P
