E-brake adjuster nut

I can't break my e-brake adjuster nut free. There's no visible corrosion. I don't have air tools, and when i try to turn it to break free, the piece of threaded rod and the cable retainer flex so much that I seem to lose all my turning power on the nut. I'm trying to back it off so i can run new cables for a disc brake swap. Any ideas?

wedge a screw driver or flat bar between the two cables. A deep well socket or ratching wrench will let you easier get a new bite while keeping torque on the screw driver.
Soak it down with PB blaster or similiar penatrating oil also.

I almost sheared the rod off on mine. It started to twist and I stopped. I ended up sawing mine off with a Dremel tool and a little cutoff disk. Not much room to work down there.

How about using heat? (And lots of it!)

soak it with PB blaster first and let it soak in a couple days before trying to break the nut free.

Not if your main seal leaks like mine! :flame: Why that much of an oil bath doesn't guarantee that the nut doesn't rust remains a mystery.
