2000 Chrysler 8.25 pinion nut

what size is it?

going to the store this afternoon

also... when checking pinion drag...how much should you dissassemble do I need to take the carrier out?

"Checking pinion drag"?

What are you trying to do? Can't give a decent answer without knowing the question.

Yes, you must dro pthe carrier. .007 of backlash does not allow you to spin it enough.

The socket used is 32 MM. Don't know the thread pitch and size.

32mm for the spanner.
Isn't the pinnion nut 1-5/16"?

The spanner was 36, remember, I tried to steal one off of your old 30?!?!

1 5/16's was loose on the nut, but functioned.

32 would have been better.

Ok I know this is bringing up an older thread, but what is the size of a 1998 8.25 pinion nut? After searching thru 9 pages of threads, I found this one, but they list 4 different sizes. I need to change the rear seal and have found that all the standard sizes I have don't fit down into the yoke to get on the nut. What size metric to I need to go buy, or maybe standard thin wall socket? TIA

so does anybody have an idea?

thanks guys, off to Sears I go
