Guys,

I tried to change the temperature sensor on my 1984 2.5L. I removed the old one fine and cleaned the threads with a small brush. I started the new one in with a ratchet (no big force or anything), and all of a sudden it just broke, near the top of the threaded part. Now, I am left with a (sort of) plug in the engine, a dead temp gauge and a huge problem.

How to remove the part left in the engine?

I was wondering if you have any ideas on how to remove it, so that I can put a new sensor in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I've managed to remove it, so here is how I did it, just in case someone has the same problem in the future.

I took a torx bit which just fitted in the part that was left in the engine's head and an extension. I then hammered that bit inside the piece. Using a ratchet, very carefully, I was able to unscrew the stuck part.

Now, I just have to wait for the local DC to get me a spare part.
