Front End Clunk, brake problem?

I have a 00 XJ with 75K miles, all stock. Recently I've noticed an inconsistent low end clunk coming from the front at very slow speeds (<10mgh) after the truck has been driven for a while, at least 50 miles. It seems like it's gotta be real good and hot...it never does it on short trips.

The clunk is accompanied by a slight ping and can even be felt in the steering wheel. It almost feels like something is binding just a bit. There is more than one clunk per wheel turn but it does slow down as the truck slows. The sound SEEMS to be coming from the right hand side when the windows are down but from the center when the windows are up (if that helps).

The strange thing is that when the truck is doing this rare clunk thing, if I hit the brakes lightly there will be a sensation the like the brakes haven't grabbed correctly, then this same clunk happens once and the brakes feel like they've grabbed. The clunking seems to go away when the brake pedal is depressed.

Is there anything to look for? I can't find anything wrong but my knowledge is somewhat limited. My gut tells me caliper or front u-joint. The front brakes are bout 4K old. Thanks!
