Gages

My XJ only has dummy lights instead of gages. I now have An inrument cluster from another XJ that has the gages I want. My question is if anyone else has replaced their cluster, do you need to replace any of your sending units under the hood or do the ones that hook into your dummy lights work?

What year is your XJ and what year is the cluster out of ?

You will need to replace the oil and water sending units with the variable resistance type used with the gauges. The idiot lights use a on/off type sending unit to illumintate the red lights.
