Help: My 4 Lo will not enage

The 4 Lo on my 95 XJ will not work. It will enage and drop to a lower gear while i am on the street idling, but once i give it gas it will pop out and i will hear a loud gear grinding noise. Offroad once i give it gas to move it pops out as well. But 4 Hi works just fine and i have no problem going in or out of it. Can anyone think of what would be causing this problem

check ur linkage and adjust accordingly.

1. Check your linkage and adjustment

2. Check to see if your crossmember is bent up

3. Check your motor mounts and trans mount


number 3 is overlooked and is usually the cause
