Try tapping the starter, you may have a flat spot or dry end bearing holding it up. If you change the starter, clean the engine block where starter goes, sometimes the oil causes a voltage drop. badge714

Sounds like brushes, either they are worn down to nubs or some oil has worked itīs way in there or both.
Which starter do you have? If itīs the Delco, the brushes are like $6.
If itīs the brushes a good wack with a hammer, will sometimes get you a few more starts. Seats the brushes (sometimes) just enough for another start or few.

well the definate way to diagnose the starter as dead or not. is as follows.

on the starter relay there is a post labled I for ignition of course. take a wire and connect it to that. then touch the other end of the wire to the positive post on the battery. if she turns than it is not your starter or solenoid. if not then you have your answer.
