I have a couple of questions on the CPS's functionality.
First off, I've seen pics of the 6 cyl "tone ring" and it's a series of 4 holes/notches (auto/stick) at 120° spacing so there are 3 sets of these holes.
Does the 2.5L 4cyl use the same pattern ?
Also does the CPS actually control the timing, or is it a "backup" type of system for firing things off ? It seems intuitive that it would, but one site I found implied that it only kept the fuel pump running and verified timing rather than actually setting/controlling it. Anyone got any insight into the computer's inner workings in this arena ?
Thanks,
Bill
