I think  I heard some where that there exsist a plug that could be used to stop oil leaking from the tail of the TC when the drive shaft is removed. I want to get my shaft balanced but I still need to drive the XJ. Where can I get this thing?
TIA.

Cut off the end of a plastic pop bottle and zip tie/duct tape it on the tailshaft. Works good on the trail too if you trash a driveshaft and need to get home.

I could be wrong but these look like what you're asking for.

If that's the case Lisle tools are available at PepBoys and many other parts stores. I remember seeing these specific plugs at Pepboys though.
However, I think I saw something that was a bit less universal in a 4x4 magazine one time, more like it was designed for the "on the trail" broken driveshaft limp home in FWD. It didn't have the stepped multi size feature, and it was more stubby.

It's called the plugzit or something similar. Rosser would have it

I think this is what you are looking for. It will also fit the NP242. If you don't have a SYE I would recommend keeping one of these plugs in your tool box. Even though I have a SYE I still carry one just in case someone else kills a driveshaft and needs it.

A lot of places sell it. This is just where I found the info for this post.
