getting to be a NAXJA addict...not such a bad thing

just bought my first xj, an 88 and I was wondering what the real difference is between metric and sae brake line flares...

could i put a metric end on some 3/16 line with a double flare..

I guessing this is a no no for sure...brakes are serious business...I just wondered what the stock 35c brake parts required and what the consequences of NOT using a bubble flare..as I have only the sae flaring tool?

what is the principle difference between a bubble flaring tool and a sae one...

let me stress again I like to do things right! just curious is all :)

thanks in advance

The 88 XJ doesn't use metric brake lines, it uses SAE lines with the conventional double flare. If you have a tool for making SAE double flares, you're good to go.

well...I thought I was totally lost in the land of torx and metric...

kinda nice to go metric...it is the only part of my tools that stays as a complete set...

I secretly think 9/16 and 1/2 have a plan to run away together...but some how 14mm and 13mm never seem to stray to far..waiting for their turn at bat

:)

thanks eagle

much appreciated
