tailpipe spruce up!

i have a stainless steel exhaust, but the tailpipe is all brown and rusty looking,
the system is solid!
i was wondering if i sanded the tail pipe would it be able to sand back to silver?
like rust on chrome rims?

or do you guys think that the rust is already changed the look of the metal underneath.

Stainless does not retain its silver color over time. The closer to heat the more it changes. Even my Borla SS exhaust has a chrome tip!

The most abrasive tool to use would be #0000 Steel Wool.
