View Full Version : Maine Wheeling?

TOZOVR has agreed to put together a run for us in New Hampshire or southern Maine this summer. Need to decide on a date, or at least zero in on a range or a couple of possibilities, so other events can be planned around that. First question is, if we put this together, who is going to attend? We tried for an event in Maine awhile ago and it was a non-starter. Some people have asked for this, but I don't want to ask RJ to put in the effort to organize it if nobody plans to attend.

Next question, WHEN? Would early to mid-August be okay? Stroker is planning sometng for Paragon in July, September is Labor Day and back to school, plus some of us will be preparing for Moab. Mid-August sounds ideal to me, but what do y'all think?

Mid August sounds good. Would be very interested. Are there going to be "easy" trails for those not set up for the tough stuff? Hate to put it like that. . . Camping or moteling it? Pencil us in too.

Mid August should be okay for me as well. Don't forget the Mohawk Madness run is the first weekend in August.

Well We have a few choices...

There are a few spots in Western Mass with good camping, a few spots in Cenral Maine and one decent one in southern Maine...Let me get some distances together and we'll start knocking ideas around!

Earle from RI has western MA/southern VT covered -- t'would be really nice to venture up into southern or central Maine, both to see some new territory, and hopefully to attract some of our members who are located up in Ellsworth, Orono, and such places that are genrally too far away for most of our other get-togethers.

I'd have to second Eagle's idea of Maine, RJ. Besides, you teased us with those Maine pics. :D

Unfortunately this year is no good for me. With BOD duties, membership duties, wedding planning, honeymoon planning and the neverending series of "things to do" I won't be able to commit to any date, though maybe in the future. Thanks TOZOVR for working to put together a run, this is the kind of stuff that makes the club strong!

Hey, Skorp --

When's the wedding? Maine has beautiful beaches, mountains, resorts, windjammer cruises -- it's a great place for a honeymoon :)

LOL, I tried that already:

"But honey Moab has the most beautiful sunsets....and we'll have the tent and air mattress"

but that didn't fly either. haha

The wedding's on Sept 20th and the honeymoon is from Sept 23rd to Oct 2nd in Scotland & England. I know we'll be back before Moab, but there's no way we'd be able to swing the trip vacation time wise.

Looking forward to meeting you. I have to say, though, that Southwest Harbor is hardly Ellsworth, and I wouldn't really think of being stationed in one of the most beautiful areas on the planet as being "stuck." I guess it's all a matter of what your interests are, though.

Hey Tozo.....

Looks like there is a NEOW run forming up for around the same time frame. I think they are looking at "Costello".....If this is one of the spots you are considering, you may want to check the thread...Thinking about congestion on the trail thats all....

Nah...I'm thinking anywhere BUT Costello as costello is a very short run...hate to have guys come from CT and such just to run a 2 hour trail

Although I would love to check out some more of the fine hospitality and scenery up north, much to my regret, I shall not be able to attend. :( I have a family reunion on the 10th and my mom visiting shortly there after. Have a good time all.

Actually, I was responsible for dragging it to the top, I just happened to delete my reply right after posting it.

Gotta remember, look at the dates when replying to messages listed as 'Related' at the bottom of a topic.

please read before you post.... It was mistakenly brought up, then the confusion was solved. The thread was from last year.

This thread gets bumped everytime someone votes in the Poll doesn't it??

Just now it showed up as unread in the forum list with the last post 7 minutes ago even though the last post was actually 3 hours ago by JeepinAudiophile, and I see a few more people "Don't know if they can" make it but are interested.... :twak:

Is it possible to close the poll? Eagle?

:new: NOT! :looney:

I'm sure there is, that would be a great idea to stop the confusion...

I'll be in the Moxie Pond area From Sept 1st to the 5th. I was thinking of checking out the b-52 crash site above Greenville and maybe doing some geocaching but I may be up for some guided wheeling. I will be with another xj possibly lifted and an f-150.
