5 speed tranny

I'm getting a deal on a late 80's two door xj without a motor and a tranny. I already have the motor, now all I need is another manual tranny.

What is the cheapest tranny you guys have picked up from the junkyard? I need a price range for the rest of the build.

I would look for a 94+ AX15 setup with the external clutch slave...the cheapest in the long run.

not sure of price, but make sure you get one with the correct spline count to match the transfer case.

I would look for a 94+ AX15 setup with the external clutch slave...the cheapest in the long run.Along those lines, any mid-89 or later XJ will have the AX-15 as well. It's far stronger than the Peugeot that was used up 'til then although the slave cylinder remained internal until 94 as noted above.
