i am looking at putting in a snorkel but dont want to pay the out ragest cost so i want to make my own... i have seen acouple write ups about making on and had a few questions.... first why does everyone make them out of plastic could they me made out of metal???? becuase i have some metal tubes that i think will work prefect.... second i read somewhere about a drain for rain wouldent it just drain out before it goes up into the filter in the little drain holes in the air box.... and i think that is all for know if you have any sugestions let me know.... Thanks

could be made out of metal if you have a tube bender (expensive/not recomended). I made mine out of PVC pipe....strong material. Looks great....check out this thread. If you run a snorkel, you want to seal those little holes in the airbox while offroad. On road you dont want rain getting into your airbox due to the fact that it will get your filter wet ultimatley starving your engine of air. Please make it be known that I take no responsibility for your snorkel if you use my layout. I know mine works.

I leave the stock air opening open when on the road. Off road, at low speeds, it doesn't matter that its flipped backward; the air will still be sucked in. You might want to use 3" PVC pipe though, instead of 2". Have fun.
