Converting from c-clip to non c-clip D35

I found a great deal on a non c-clip lockrite and a few spare shafts (no housing).
My problem is I want to put it in a 97 C-clip axle.

Can this be done or do I just need to let this deal pass and continue looking?

Can't be done, you'd have to swap in a non-c-clip housing. It has to do with how the bearings and shaft are retained and how they fit on the shaft.
