Hi All...

YES I did a search. I have found info on what people are over/under for clearance, but NOT the actual clearances per the FSM.

I am going to be checking the specs for bearing clearances - installing a new crank & bearings for a stroker build-up. I don't have a FSM (STUPID ME) and I have read that renix FSMs are hard to locate... so to stem the delay, can anyone list out the FSM bearing tolerances? The more info for a total assembly, the better, as it will probably take some time to find the #s and I've got assembly time now. TIA... much apprceiated...

I'm doing an 89 renix I6.

BTW, sorry if there are "c"s missing. I a busted c key on the laptop.

Crank ==> 0.001 to 0.0025 inches, with 0.002 preferred

Endplay ==> 0.0015 to 0.0065 inches

Rods ==> 0.001 to 0.003 inches, with 0.0015 to 0.0020 preferred

Rod side clearance ==> 0.010 to 0.019 inches

This info is from the 1994 FSM, which isn't for a Renix engine, but the lower end and bearing clearances should all be the same.

Exactly as listed in my 89 FSM.

you should also consider haveing the stroker crank ground if and only if its used but if you bought a kit your all set

Yeah, if the crank were used, I'd have it turned & polished. There's no sense in taking the risk for the difference in cost.

The crank, bearings, and pretty much everything are new. It'll be a shame if I screw this up. I'm moving very slowly, though, check, check and double check. Took me 4 hours to set the crank, torque it, check it, etc. I'm extremely fastidious on this sort of thing... Can't wait to finish it...

The MJ is a frame off, so what better than a stroker power plant?

thats good to hear that your taking your time and doing it right. the other thing you should check is the pistons. MIC them a three differnt spots top bottom and at the pin. this will make sure they weren't damaged during shipping and you dont have a colasped piston skirt

Thanks for the tip. I haven't gotten that far, yet. But I did not yet know to check that.

PAW sent the wrong rings... Purchased the pistons, crank, rods, cam, lifters, and assorted stuff.
I got a 258 crank, 258 (707 casting) rods, 242 pistons. Must have been too many numbers, because they sent the rings for the smaller 258 pistons. Talk about oil blow by issues...

Of course maybe they were concerned that I have too much compression...
