Resetting the computer

How do you reset the computer in my 87 cherokee with a 4.0l and automatic tans.? Thanks

Standard answer is - disconnect battery for at least 5 minutes.

k thanks, I asked because I'm running without a muffler and somebody said to reset it. Somewhere I heard that if you turn the key off and on for a certain amount of time then it would reset.

You're all wrong. The 'Renix computer doesn't "learn" from your driving and store it. The Chrysler computer does, but the Renix resets itself every time you turn off the ignition.
