any ideas how to clean it without the k&n filter kleener solution?

I just went to the local Kregan and bought the stuff for like $15. Im going to be able to use it for a long time, so its worth it.
That said, I bet water would do it, but I dont know how well it would work. Also, you need the recharger for the filter that gives it its "cleaning" properties.

I've used regular dish detergent and water mixed up in a spray bottle. I've never used anything other than the K&N oil for after you clean it.
